Chapter X

Jesus Christ1 is made the mediator of the new and everlasting covenant of grace between God and man, ever to be2 perfectly and fully the prophet, priest, and king of the church of God for evermore.

  1. John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, Hebrews 9:15 Therefore he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.  ↩︎
  2. Isaiah 9:6–7 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.  ↩︎
