Also such to whom God has given gifts in the church, may and ought to prophecy, according to the proportion of faith, and to teach publicly the Word of God, for the edification, exhortation, and comfort of the church.¹

Romans 12:6 Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; 1 Corinthians 12:7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 1 Corinthians 14:3 On the other hand, the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation, etc.; 1 Thessalonians 5:19–21 Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies, but test everything; hold fast what is good. 1 Peter 4:10–11 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.
