Chapter XXV

The preaching of the gospel to the conversion of sinners, is1 absolutely free; no way requiring as absolutely necessary, any qualifications, preparations, or terrors of the law, or preceding ministry of the law, but only and alone the naked soul, a sinner2 and ungodly, to receive Christ crucified, dead and buried, and risen again; who is made a prince and a savior for such sinners as through the gospel shall be brought to believe on Him.

  1. Isaiah 55:1 “Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. John 1:12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, John 3:14–15 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life. John 7:37 On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. ↩︎
  2. Acts 2:36 Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.” Acts 5:30–31 The God of our fathers raised Jesus, whom you killed by hanging him on a tree. God exalted him at his right hand as Leader and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins. 1 Corinthians 1:22 For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, 1 Corinthians 1:24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Romans 4:5 And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness, Romans 5:8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us1 Timothy 1:15 The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.  ↩︎
