Faith is ordinarily¹ begotten by the preaching of the gospel, or Word of Christ, without respect to² any power or agency in the creature; but it being wholly³3 passive, and dead in trespasses and sins, does believe and is converted by no less⁴4 power than that which raised Christ from the dead.
